Exposed Coil Cup
The exposed coil cup was made by creating a slab, cutting out a circle, and using that as a base. Then coils were indivually rolled out and coiled into different shapes such as circles, triangles and squares. The coils were then vertically attached to the base and stacked to create the walls of the cup. The cup was then allowed to dry and was fired, glazed, and fired again. A good exposed coil cup has evenly rolled coils, clearly defined shapes, and the inside walls are smoothed together so that there are no holes.
