Pinch Pot
The pinch pots were made by creating a ball of clay and pinching the center with my thumb and palm of my hand. The clay was pinched until the sides were even and had taken the shape of a pot. Then the designs were carved into the sides of the pinch pots once the clay became leather hard. After the pots became bone dry, they were fired, glazed, and then fired again. A good pinch pot has even sides that are thin and smooth.
